I05 Esports as E-athlete

Esports is a new phenomenon within the domain of sports Esports is becoming more and more professional, so opportunities in this sector as E-athlete, organisers of events, coaches of athletes, and video-analysts of game/play situations arise. People's preparation and awareness of esports effects to becoming E-athletes require special programs involving lifestyle, physical preparation, coaching, etc. Public organisations can use a trained VET- student to perform a program for different groups in society, either to provide awareness, but also to experience esports at the introduction stage.

The ROC van Amsterdam is the only provider in Europe with a full secondary vocational education in de domain of Esports and works closely together with main companies and organisations in the sector.

Addressing Needs

By using the Unit of Learning Outcomes principle we offered the participating students a better orientation and position in the realm of esports with a focus on a healthy lifestyle as an athlete, and preparation for the requirements of esports environments (ergonomics, game types, teamwork, audience, etc.).

Concept

This module is expected to be a perfect match for those who are into the Esports. In The Netherlands Esports and related work in this sector is rapidly growing. From the more closed environment of Esports teams, we see new emerging opportunities arise in areas such as sport support coaches (Buurtsportcoach) with a focus on esports in local traditional sports clubs.

Formation of a module which can be used throughout Europe in any educational setting to prepare people for esports.

Considering an esports-player to be an E-athlete.
